Toy release: Gordo Jessamine, Brent Nolasco

Winter is still around, in fact has only really begun, and people enjoying (or fighting) the white masses all around the globe (well the northern hemissphere at least) when artist and toy customizer Brent Nolasco announces together with mphlabs the release of the 2nd colorway of Brent’s cute and creepy Gordo character. His hand-painted Gordo Jessamine resin figure will be released on Wednesday, January 27th @ 1 PM EST for $75 from myplasticheart and myplasticheartnyc. Available in very limited numbers, the Jessamine edition continues Brent’s hands-on approach from the beautiful hand-painted design he already prooved in the first colorway the Blue orchid. And as icing on the cake: have you noticed the inclusion of a little tuff of moss on Gordo’s forehead? How awesome is that!?! Just enough to make us think of warm spring time and lush meadows right now…

Toy Release: Dead Bunny by Brandt Peters

Brandt Peters x KidRobot
“Dead Bunny”
6.5″ tall
vinyl
edition of 200
Releasing Thursday, February 4th @ all KidRobot locations, kidrobot.com, and select retailers.
The past year or so has seen poor toy release after poor toy release; to the point where a lot of collectors have refined the collections or sold them off all together. Of course there are always exceptions, I know some would argue about the 3A Toys and the Coarse toys but the giant companies left a poor taste in the mouth’s of collectors. I will be the first to admit I am one of those people that weren’t impressed with the toys being released and sold off most of my collection. However, the Dead Bunny by Brant Peters might have be biting my tongue and buying my first toy in over a year. Its an amazing new sculpt and brings one of the imaginative characters of Brandt to life perfectly. The internet has been a buzz since the release of teaser picture of few weeks back and seems this is going to sell out in seconds, and is destined for the art toy “hall-of-fame” [that is if 50 colorways aren't made]. 2010 seems to be the year companies will put the “art” back in art toys if this release is the way the year is starting.

AND THE REST IS NONSENSE: 66 QUESTIONS TO…
…Chris Ryniak, artist

After 2 months of silence in nonsense land (we sincerely apologize) it was about time to post another feature of our interview series “And the rest is nonsense: 66 questions to…”. After Brent Nolasco and Okkle, we are proud to present to you painter and customizer Chris Ryniak in our little interview feature.
Though in the middle of holiday shopping for the family and preparations of his upcoming solo show on February 13th at Copro Gallery Chris gladly took the time (45 minutes to be exact) and answered our questions and allowed us to take a glimpse at his personality. Read the full interview after the jump.
